Dog Movie (Henry Hanson, United States, 1:01:00)
This feature film tells the story of a passive-aggressive tenderqueer couple that send their household into a quiet tailspin when they adopt an elderly pitbull with the same name as the unemployed couch surfer they just can’t seem to confront. Watch this movie if you need the courage to finally ask your roommates to do the dishes.

Laughtrack (CW, United States, 15:02)
A darkly humorous short film that asks participants to describe something awful that’s happened to them– and then see if a stranger will laugh at it. CW: descriptions of SA, transphobia, and homophobia.

Get freaky with us on Friday night! This program combines animated, experimental, and films shot-on-film that defy expectations. These are filmmakers who play with the physicality and form of the medium. Think Adult Swim, but more transgender.

Homemade Gatorade (Carter Amelia Davis, United States, 9:07):
A woman embarks on a road trip to deliver homemade Gatorade to a mysterious online buyer in this short that’s much weirder than whatever you’re imagining.

003 Dawn Chorus (Judebird, United States, 23:29):
Composed of iPhone footage, 16mm painted film, microscopy, archival footage, original music and poetry, this diary short film meditates on finding faith in love and birds. Content Warning: Some moments of flashing, photosensitivity.

An Aftermath (Tobi Springer, Netherlands, 4:49):
A melancholic stop-motion animated film, wherein two characters try to navigate the liminal nature of the time that comes after a suicide attempt.

Tayta (Jose Luis Benavides, United Staes, 10:00):
A video portrait of the trans-Palestinian-American artist, Ali El-Chaer. Offering an intimate look at their artwork, it shares their experiences and art-making process related to land, body, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Augmented (Raymond (Ray) Rea, United States, 8:27):
An experimental non-fiction short, shot completely on 16mm, analyzing the commonalities between medical augmentation and transgender alignment. We are frightening because we’re the future.

T4T (Avian de Keizer, United States, 3:01):
An experimental short about trans love and navigating the medical system shot on Super 8 from Olympia filmmaker Avian de Keizer. The film was literally bathed in testosterone gel and rubbed in a combination of gel, lotion, and skin cells belonging to the filmmaker and their partner.

THE MARTIAL FOREST (J Triangular, Colombia & Taiwan, 8:27):
In a dystopian future, exiled Kung Fu master Big Sister 13 leads a gang of trans and queer fighters to reclaim a forgotten zone and transform it into the Martial Forest—a secret training ground where they can prepare to fight and build a future rooted in resistance and chosen family. Content Warning: Some moments of flashing, photosensitivity.

Beachline (Finnley Tinker, United States, 2:13):
A man casts his fishing rod out to sea, unexpectedly creating a link between his past and present.

Out of Frame (Evan Bode, United States, 9:59):
Trapped in their frames and monitored by a menacing curator, two paintings are willing to overturn the status quo to create a world where they can be together.

Christ Complex (Constanze Brodbeck, United States, 5:10):
The filmmaker examines her relationship to God, community, and embodiment through a series of phone diaries and song.

Dig Up Your Darlings (Yasi Rehana Durant, United States, 18:47):
When Melly accidentally orders a personal item to their parents’ address, they are sent on a journey of self-discovery which is hijacked when an unknown number calls them, saying they’ve been buried alive.

Every day is a great day to be transgender! SLICE OF LIFE is a program dedicated to films about the infinite possibilities of the trans experience, capturing how our daily lives defy oversimplified notions of a singular trans narrative.

Ballroom Night (Bruny Derotzi, Brazil, 11:39):
A documentary created by one of the founders of the house of Casixtranha that takes the audience into the world of Ballroom culture in Brazil, sharing footage from performances and personal stories from those who are part of this scene.

At Home (Aubrey Pandori, United States, 12:39):
A 29-year-old trans musician and a 79-year-old lesbian archivist share stories of self-discovery, chosen family, and community building in the Bay Area.

Free Zhi Kai (Len Sanqui, United States, 5:05):
A short documentary about trans Asian elder, activist, and artist Zhi Kai Vanderford, who has been incarcerated for 37 years.

Artifice (Theo Rose, United States, 11:57):
A thriller where a woman meets her shadow at a local coffee shop. Through poetry, presence, and subtle exposition, the film forgoes conventional narrative structure in favor of circling around its thesis: What can you know about a person?

The Diary of Valeria (Athena Jey, United States, 6:48):
This experimental short film is an adaptation of a diary entry belonging to a transgender woman named Valeria, wherein she deals with personal and existential anxieties about her body.

Poster (Ren Caldwell, United States, 15:02):
An artist who hangs posters promoting their work on street poles in Capitol Hill becomes fascinated by a dancer who posts QR codes linking to their work in this slow-burn romance.

Where Are You From? (Stevie Vickery, Australia , 6:18):
A lush music video from Melbourne-based South Asian musician Naavikaran about racist white people and the stupid shit they say to her.

Revenge (Mari Penteado, Eduardo Campos, Brazil, 18:56):
This short follows Virginia, a 43-year-old transgender woman who works as a community health agent in Guarulhos, Brazil, as she experiences the warmth of community and resilience in the face of an exhausting exterior world.

This short film offers a glimpse into the quiet struggles and momentary victories of a trans man as he tries to reach his destination via the bus.

Today I Ride the Subway (Rosalina Michele, United States, 6:21):

Sweep (Chaela Fuentes Tordillo, Philippines, 9:36):
Seven-year-old Anna convinces her trans mother, Joe, to let her tag along as she works as a street sweeper.

In the heart of Medellín, Colombia, the sharp and charismatic La Tiana leads the Travesti Gang in reclaiming public spaces with irreverent elegance and fierceness.

We Will Learn To Give Ourselves New Names (Emery Joan, United States, 4:27):
An examination of the politics of naming, belonging, and cartography. Maps blur and names shift as the filmmaker questions colonial logics of place and identity, asking: how do we rename ourselves in a world that has already named – and claimed – so much?

When The Man Comes Around (Tommy Meisel, United States, 12:01):
An exploration of the inextricable relationship between love and capital, this short traces the whirlwind romance between a cowboy and a trans camgirl.

Scout’s Honor (Benett Holgerson, United States, 10:48):
In this meditation on trans sisterhood and Midwestern ennui, two tight-knit roommates get ready for their night out. As they inject hormones, bicker, put on makeup, and smoke a little too much weed before going out on the town., we get an intimate glimpse into their loving and occasionally fraught relationship.

CASTRATION MOVIE PART II | Film & Q+A, 12pm, Sunday Oct 19 | GET TICKETS


Castration Movie is a labyrinthine post-modern epic about gender. A trans woman named Michaela “Traps” Sinclair (filmmaker Louise Weard) is a sex worker in Vancouver who splits her time between seeing clients and hanging out with her group of trans friends. As the weight of the world piles up on her she decides to reclaim some sense of control by seeking out a back-alley orchiectomy.

Castration Movie Anthology ii. The Best of Both Worlds (Louise Weard, 5:00:00)
The second part of Castration Movie (running 300 minutes with an intermission) contains one chapter. In Chapter iii. Polygon!!!! Heartmoder, Circle (Alex Walton) tries to leave a trans separatist cult in New York.
